yeah, kinda amazing. People are quite often afraid to intervene.
but in this case, I think it happens often that kids tell their parents "you're not my mum/dad". So it's not obvious to think rightly. If the guy is really an abductor he may get frighten and go. But then again, if the person is really the child's parent, how is he/she supposed to prove her legitimity?
you couldn't really hold a person till the cops come out, could you?
well actually I don't how quick are the cops in the US, but in France they're kinda slow. I remember once my mum calling them cause there was some fighting down the street and they pop up 20 min later when all was over and gone.
