Long Fist progression of skills

Postby pilotfish » Mon Jan 16, 2012 11:57 am

From what I've seen, belts are not used by YMAA, and the instructors pages mention "ranks" instead. Is there a list of ranks and their requirements on this site? I couldn't find one.

The absence of belts is fine with me. What I'm really interested in is the sequence of skills to learn. I don't live near a YMAA school and train alone, but the DVDs are a good way to at least approximate the forms. I had about a year and a half of Long Fist some time ago and liked it a lot, but it didn't work out with the instructor. He had recommended Dr Yang's book, and when I found YMAA.com last fall, I got the Basic Sequences DVD.

Now I can re-learn Lian Bu Quan and Gong Li Quan and add other skills presented there. That will take a while, but what can I look forward to as a long term agenda?

Regards,
Lew
