Baguazhang Qi Gong Form

Postby SuBramha » Thu May 16, 2013 12:08 pm

Hi All, I am wondering if anyone is learning the Emei Baguazhang Qi Gong form? I have some questions regarding the internal workings.

Thanks

Per my experience, such an animal does not exists. What exists, as part of jibengong, are neigong enhancing postures (same as in baquazhang's sequences that assists in "qi regulation per the specific posture.
Basic yangzhang (hands outstretched with/while walking circle) enhances 3 yin and yang arm while opening 'chest. (pectoral area) to enhance breathing and decreasing stagnation. Repeated practice also help with balance and proprioception.

awesome link, bisio's bgz circle walking nei gung is a most excellent book

Actually, Baguazhang Qigong does exist. It is taught by Grandmaster Liang Shou-Yu, and preserved on his DVD. (performed by Dr. Yang, who was studying it at the time):

Grandmaster Liang began his training in Kung Fu and Qigong at the age of 6, under the tutelage of his renowned grandfather, the late Liang, Zhi-Xiang of the Emei Mountain sect.

However it is correct to say that it was probably referred to as neigong at the time, before the word 'qigong' was more-widely adopted to encapsulate all the various internal training methods.

My reason for my response, that baquazhang qigong does not exist, is that its present body of knowledge, did not include what we call qigong today. The "qigong" designation is a new and ongoing reference to recapsulate what was once called neigong/neiyanggong, etc and as such, each master developed their own "qigong' relative to their experience, education, exposure and vision. If I were to examine the qigong associated with baquazhang teacher Xie Peiqi (using him as the pinnacle of study and perfection) and reference another teacher or master, I am sure that even the basic student will be able to 'sense' a distinct level of skill and experience in who he is looking at and make some valid comparison(s).

Not that one is better than the other but which one's energy resonates within the person who is looking at and understands (more or less) what he sees! 8)

The Gong of the Qi. Call it whatever you want. Doesn't matter.

The short answer to this question is YES, SUCH EXERCISES EXIST.
