Master Yang has said that he feels that water somehow dissipates the body's qi and only slightly energizing. He didn't find it to be particularly helpful with qigong practice, except for the aspect of deep relaxation.

Here is a simple strategy per TCM common sense:
1. When the weather is hot, use cooler water
2. When the weather is cold, use warmer water
3. When damp, dress appropriately and cover head
a. Too hot baths over time is drying to the skin
b. Hot Sulfur baths are cleansing!

Thanks for the replies. In the 'experimentation dept.' I wonder what could be the effect of doing something like full-body breathing in a bath. Would the body get 'energy' (?) from the surrounding water element ? Just curious. Haven't tried it.

you just about forget you're even in a bath. just dont try it if the water is too hot, you heat up really fast.
Even in mildly complex systems, any outcome is the wrong thing to target, with the process being where the focus should be.
