http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour

Founded by David Belle, Parkour, the "art of displacement" focuses on practicing efficient movements to develop your body and mind to be able to overcome obstacles in an emergency. Parkour is also taken up for entertainment or as a pastime.

I discovered parkour a couple of weeks ago and found it very appealing. There's a certain "something" in being able to "flow" through space and I can see how, when you reach some degree of competence, it can put your mind in the same "in the zone" states as other activities.

Note parkour is different from free running in the way that free running adds superfluous flashiness to the whole thing. You can see it in the first video, with that backflip. It, in a way, subverts the idea of energy efficiency but well. at least it gets people away from the computer Smile and is also a good way of keeping well fit and in tune with your body without having to spend monotonous hours indoors.

There are some really awesome free running videos on youtube if you are interested. I want to do free running, but I don't know how to start. I wonder if there are free running classes or something.

I'm going to add some of these exercises to my routine.

Thinking about the discussion on Bruce Lee at the moment
( http://www.ymaa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=83 )

Bruce has a great influence on Parkour too.
