the knife defense are all standard Qin-Na techniques at YMAA. i'd say at least 80-90% of our Qin-Na is rooted in White Crane, altho Long Fist (and other styles) also have a number of similar techniques that overlap with WC.

very interesting, I've got one question about Qin Na: Han Qingtang was very famous for Qin Na, didn't he teach something to gmaster Li?

yes, my father learned Qin-Na in both Long Fist and White Crane. all complete martial systems should have Qin-Na in it. as YMAA has a tendency of doing, we mix the 2 styles together trying to take the best from both worlds.

you'll have to ask my father to know exactly how much of each was incorporated into our Qin-Na program, but i was always under the impression that most of it was White Crane because WC uses much more fingers, sticking, and hooking -- as a short-range style usually does -- and tends to be more effective because it presents more options.

There's one qinna in Xiao Hu Yan, at least one in San Lu Pao (when it looks like the guy's preparing an energy ball within his hands :D ) and I've been told that there were some in Cha Quan cuz there're several wrestling technics in it. But I never though the YMAA Cha Quan...
