Eight Simple Qigong Exercises for Health—The Eight Pieces of Brocade
Feeling is a Language
In his bestselling qigong DVD, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming instructs and demonstrates "The Eight Pieces of Brocade", one of the most popular sets of Qigong (chi kung) healing exercises. These gentle breathing, stretching and strengthening movements activate the Qi (chi) energy and blood circulation in your body, helping to stimulate your immune system, strengthen your internal organs, and give you abundant energy. With both a sitting and standing set, anyone can practice these simple and effective exercises in as little as 20 minutes a day.
Known in China as the Ba Duan Jin, The Eight Pieces of Brocade has been practiced for over 1,000 years. Also included are the ‘secret words’ - poems and songs that have been used to pass this knowledge down from generation to generation, which contain the key to each of these ancient medical qigong movements.
This DVD edition includes a detailed and fascinating qigong lecture by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, with over an hour of additional explanation and instruction for each of the qigong movements and the history of The Eight Pieces of Brocade.

As with all DVDs by YMAA and Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming, you are impressively overwhelmed by technical and academic data to back up what you are practicing. Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming does not fool around or tell you to simply believe what he is saying. As with all YMAA material featuring Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming, you are treated to hours of additional material that would most likely be worth hundreds of additional dollars if purchased separately. One of the Best DVDs on Qigong I Have Found, A. Ruppert "QiCoach" (Amazon reviewer) September, 2005
These simple breathing and physical exercises calm the mind and refresh the body. They build strength and help to balance yourself in a hectic world or after a hard day of training.
...Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming is by far the most scientific and proficient teacher on the market.
As a 15 year practitioner of tai chi chuan this system of qigong and this DVD in particular is one of the best I have ever seen. It goes into just the right amount of detail and description, is beautifully done and clearly, Dr. Yang is a gifted teacher. I have seen MANY martial art training videos and the quality of this is way above par. This is a beautiful qigong form that is sure to bring health to anyone who practices daily. It's the real deal!Excellent Quality Video, A Customer (Amazon reviewer) April, 2004
This DVD is nicely produced with very high quality digital footage and sound. the instruction is clear and the movements are simple. There are two complete sets of exercises. The first one is sitting, and it is meant to be done right when you wake up to get your Qi energy circulating. I found this to be a surprisingly powerful set of exercises, and it has taught me to be much more aware of the energy in my body. The standing set of exercises is more physical, and after only a few months I have found that it has made me very limber and much stronger. I have more muscle and less fat and I feel 'connected' to every cell in my body. I wake up with more energy than I ever have in my life.
The greatest part of this DVD is that after you've learned the movements, and seen them demonstrated, Dr. Yang explains each one and gives additional information about each movement that you can get much more out of your practice.
