As for Dr. Yangs books/vids on Yang style taijiquan, I find these the best on the net because his teachings are the closest to that of my sifu. He does not teach violence, only self defense. If you want to learn, then this site is the way to go, if you cannot find a good teacher where you are. His vids are well done, and the books are very explanatory.

I have seen dvds like understanding qigong,1,2,3,5,6. 3 Chin na in depth 3 volumes series, chin na in depth 2 dvds. Taiji 37 postures for martial application, fighting set, pushing hands set etc. books on chin na. Analysis and shalion chin na..soon i will be getting advance chin na in VHS. However, in some cases like chin na application dvds are more explanatory as it is a practical knowledge. if they are seen first before you read the books techniques will be more clearer.Only books do not help to understand the techniques. In case of thory subject such as understanding qi qong books though i personally prefer seeeing the dvd first books may have more eleborate information. i am yet to read them. i bought essence of qi gong but the i understtod the proper meaning of this dvd only after i saw understandong qigong dvds. Buying dvds or books in a right sequence for better understaning is necessary. In addition, i have simplified taichi chaun and wudang taijiquan which are also very good which are written by different authors.

The quality of filming is good but the Staff form instructional I purchased has three students who are not real experienced and the form is done far too quickly for instructional purposes. When I received the order, two items were backorderd. I wrote YMAA and they got back to me in a timely manner, telling me when they will ship the two items (different times for each item). They followed through as they said they would. As a process improvement, I feel they should tell you correctly that some items were backordered along with the estimated time in the first shipping notification email...rather than having the customer have to open the shipment to find out, then having to write a email to find out what happened. In other words be proactive rather than corrective when back orders happen. Comment: Though it can never replace live lessons with an instructor, The Shaolin Long Fist multimedia DVDs and VHS tapes in combination with with the book is the next best thing to live instruction. The book has a few typos, but if you study the pics and use it in conjunction with the DVDs, you should have no trouble with it. I Also liked the way it provides the history of the art, and traces the roots of Kung Fu in general and in particular, the Long Fist style itself. The material produced by Dr. Yang is a trusted source of of information for learning true traditional Kung Fu.
