SEMINAR/WORKSHOP PROGRAM
In Taijiquan, Taiji Ball training used to be one of the major methods of training. However, due to its secrecy, few people know about it. The health benefits of practicing Taiji Ball are significant, due to its emphasis on the conditioning of the torso, prevention of injury, and rejuvenation of the spine. The training is done with soft movements, that not only condition the physical body, but also train the coordination and harmonization of the mind and Qi.WHO IS TEACHING?
YMAA instructors Bill Buckley is a Taijiquan practitioner and certified YMAA Qigong Instructor under Dr. Yang and will be leading the seminar discussion and exercises.WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Everybody is welcome to attend this Taiji Ball Qigong Seminar. Attendance is limited so register soon. This seminar will benefit:- Martial artists of all styles.
- All YMAA students (Taiji and Shaolin) who would like to refine their Taiji Ball techniques.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
If you have a Taiji Ball, you may bring it, but we may require you to train only over matted areas. It is preferred that students first practice with a sports ball, like a basketball, soccer ball, kickball, etc. A ball is not required for the training, but it does help to better grasp the feeling. We do have a limited supply of sports balls for use at the school. We recommend that you bring loose practice clothing (T-shirt and pants) and a pair of indoor shoes unless you prefer working in bare feet.TRAVELING TO BOSTON
YMAA Boston is located approximately 20 minutes South of downtown Boston. If you are traveling by car please visit YMAA Boston webpage for detailed driving instructions.Free on-street parking is available and there are several paid lots nearby.
A good alternative is to use the MBTA subway transportation system. YMAA Boston is about a 3-minute walk from the Forest Hill Orange Line station. Visit MBTA website for more information.
If you are flying to Boston, you can use the MBTA subway system to get to YMAA instead of by taxi. After arriving at Boston’s Logan Airport take the free airport shuttle bus (Route #22, #33 or #55) to the MBTA ("T") Airport station. Take the Inbound Blue Line train to State station. At State station board the Orange Line outbound train to Forest Hills station. At the Forest Hills station go upstairs and proceed straight to exit the terminal on the Hyde Park Avenue side. Once outside and at the top of the landing, turn right, proceed downstairs, walk to the intersection, cross the street, and walk 2 blocks right to YMAA Boston.
