Visitor Training at YMAA CA Retreat Center
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO COME TO YMAA CALIFORNIA FOR TRAINING
The training is challenging, and you will learn at an accelerated rate and will achieve higher levels of skill and understanding in a much shorter period. As a visitor, you must follow the usual Retreat Center student rules and schedule. Taijiquan and Qigong are trained in the morning, while external activities such as body conditioning, Long Fist, and White Crane are trained in the afternoons. The Retreat Center offers an ideal setting to immerse yourself in training away from the distractions of everyday life, with an organic garden, a natural spring well, and good energy deep in the forest of Northern California. There are strict rules and a schedule which must be adhered to in order to maintain the code of discipline that is an integral aspect of the training at the Retreat Center.
You may come to CA during Summer Seminars, or the Regular Training periods. In either case, please be sure to receive confirmation of your visit through email or phone before booking any travel.
- SUMMER SEMINARS: JULY and AUGUST.
(Limited to a maximum of 20 participants) - REGULAR TRAINING PERIODS: September 1 - December 15 and January 16 - June 30.

TRANSPORTATION
VIA AIR
- To Eureka/Arcata ($50 for Round-Trip Ride) (Please Contact Us First for Arriving Time):
By contacting us first, we can arrange a pick up time for you. If you are able to match the pre-arranged time of 3:00pm or 7:00pm, the fare will be $50 per round-trip ride. You will be able to share the cost with other parties who are being picked up at the same time. However, if you are not able to arrive for the pre-arranged pick-up times, a fare of $100 per round-trip ride will be required. We want to encourage carpooling and less trips to the airport as much as possible to reduce gasoline costs and pollution. The drive to the center is roughly 90 minutes from the airport. Bring only necessary luggage due to limited space. - To S. Francisco
There will not be pick-up vehicles waiting in S. Francisco since it is a four-hour drive to the center. You may rent a vehicle, preferably one with four-wheel drive. However, if unable to rent a vehicle with four-wheel drive, it is possible to park your vehicle in Miranda. (Please check the parking options next). The number of vehicles permitted on the property is limited, along with a road-maintenance fee being charged. (Please check the parking options next).
VIA CAR
- Two-Wheel Drive Vehicles :
WARNING: Driving a two-wheel car to the center is FORBIDDEN. A car with four-wheel drive capability is a necessity. The climb to the center is narrow and ascends at a 38 degree incline. (Two-wheel drive vehicles are unfortunately incapable of making it to the center.) Cell phones do not function in this remote mountain area, making rescue difficult. Two wheel drive vehicles have the option of parking at a farm near the center at the bottom of the mountain (about a 10 minute drive away). There is a parking fee of $10 per day at the farm.
- Four-Wheel-Drive Vehicle (Total 5 cars allowed):
If you have a four-wheel vehicle and wish to drive to the center, please contact us first for approval. Only 5 vehicles are permitted to enter and remain at the center. If you can avoid driving, please do so due to the single-lane roadway being capable of only having one car on it at any given time. There will be a fee of $20/day for parking and road maintenance. We encourage you to park the car at the Miranda farm.
