Mariusz Sroczyński

Mariusz Sroczyński (born on 17 January 1970) is the director of YMAA Warsaw. He has been training Taijiquan and Qigong since 1988. When he was 15, he also trained Kyokushin Karate and Aikido. He graduated in Fine Arts – weaving, theatre painting, and interior design. Additionally, he spent seven years in hinduistic monasteries as a monk. For many years, he practiced meditation according to the Vedic tradition. Afterwards, he began dedicating himself to the practice of Taijiquan.

Mariusz has practiced Taiji in several different schools and organizations. It was in 1993 when he was introduced to YMAA and for the first time participated in a seminar taught by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming. Since then, he has dedicated himself to the YMAA training program.

In 1998, with the endorsement of the then YMAA Poland President, Jaroslaw Koza, and with the agreement of Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, Mariusz's school became a temporary YMAA provisional school in Warsaw. In the beginning of 2002, the school became an official YMAA school. In October 2003, Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming visited YMAA Warsaw for the first time and ran a 3-day seminar. Master Yang visited once again in 2005.

In 2001, Mariusz was certified as an official YMAA Assistant Instructor (3rd rank Taijiquan), qualifying him to lead and teach international and domestic trainings in the YMAA curriculum. He was also certified as an instructor by the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Poland.

At YMAA Warsaw, you can train traditional Yang-Style Taijiquan and Qigong. There are about 100 students in different training classes. Four classes are divided according to level: basics/beginners, intermediate, advanced-intermediate, and advanced. We have also subject-specific classes for those who are primarily interested in Taijiquan as a martial art, Taijiquan weapons, or testing for certification. In the program, there are regular classes for training, workshops and seminars. YMAA Warsaw has also been organizing summer camps, performances, presentations, lectures, summer trainings outside of the gym, and film exibitions. Mariusz Sroczynski is also featured in a TV series teaching Taijiquan and in several articles on how to train.
