*Pre-historic aztec/mayan Yin/Yang, called the Hunab Ku, was found on various buildings, clothing, pottery, and other relics. This symbol may have been used only when the Spanish asked the Maya to describe their God, who they usually considered to be infinite and impossible portray visually. The Hunab Ku, which means 'one God' or 'source of movement and measure' is a representation of the spiraling nature of creative energy, and is also considered to be a representation of our spiral galaxy, the milky way. Similar to the ancient Chinese, the maya believed in a natural balance of opposites, and that the plurality of the world is an illusion of the senses. Ancient mayan writings state that Hunab Ku endowed mankind with "seven powers of light", through which one may ascend toward enlightenment. These relate to the chakras of Ayurvedic medicine and the Seven Matching Gates of Chinese acupuncture. (The Hindu word kundalini corresponds to the Mayan word k'ultanlilni (a combination of the words for "gods/pyramid/speak, vibration/nose"). In Indian history, a figure named "Mayan" appears several times, most significantly as the author of Mayamatam, "Concept of Mayan" which is a Vastu Shastra, a text on art, architecture and town planning from 8,000 BC. It has been demonstrated that the architecture between the ancient civilizations share remarkable mathematical similarities, everywhere from Mexico and Peru to India and China. Likewise, the Indian word Chidambaram relates to the Mayan word Chilambalam, both meaning "hall of consciousness," the name of the empty meditation chamber within these structures. "Mayan" was also the author of Surya Siddhanta, one of the most ancient Hindu treatises on astronomy.
