Captured in Boston's beautiful Arnold Arboretum, this simplified, short Tai Chi sequence is practiced to both the left and right for balance. The "Sunrise Tai Chi" form was created as a comprehensive introduction to authentic Tai Chi, which will allow you to fine-tune your practice before moving on to more complex Tai Chi. It includes suggestions for intermediate and advanced students, to help you grow and improve over time.

This Tai Chi from is used as a mind / body intervention at Tufts Medical School to improve general health, and specifically to prevent and treat osteoarthritis of the knee, its side effects and symptoms, as published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) as well as for chronic pain / fibromyalgia prevention and treatment as published in the New England Medical Journal (NEJM).

Rami Rones is a gold medalist, award-winning martial artist in both the U.S. and China. With 16 years of experience leading Tai Chi, Qigong and Meditation classes, he focuses on helping individuals with conditions such as cancer, arthritis, fibromyalgia, aging, injuries, and stress. Rami is a consultant on mind/body therapies at Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools, and is the co-author of numerous publications. In addition to his work at the Zakim Center, Rami also lectures and instructs in the techniques of the Tai Chi, Qigong and meditation philosophies in hospitals, institutions, and schools around the world.

A senior disciple of renowned teacher & author Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming in Boston, MA, Ramel is a Gold medalist in Internal and External Martial Arts: Three-Time Gold Medalist in Shanghai China, for Tai Chi, External & Internal Weapons (Grand National Championship 1994) & Gold Medalist for Tai Chi & Kung Fu Sword, 1994. From 1991-1993, Ramel earned Gold Medals for Tai Chi, Pushing Hands and Tai Chi Sword in the International North American Chinese Martial Arts Competition.

In 2004, National Geographic filmed a study done on the effects of Meditation and Tai Chi for a program called 'Explorations'. Ramel Rones, the test subject, was asked to meditate using various methods, while his brain was scanned and vital signs were recorded by researcher Dr. Sarah Lazar at Mass General Hospital, the world's foremost brain research facility. The data extracted dramatically demonstrated Rami's ability to rapidly modulate his breathing rate and physiological arousal level as he entered a meditative state. This finding complements Lazar's broader study which found that advanced meditators like Rami are able to activate a broad network of cortical and subcortical areas associated with emotional and cognitive regulation, which has many health benefits.
