2020 SUMMER SEMINARS

Attend week-long intensive seminars with Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming at the YMAA Retreat Center and experience this ideal setting for training and attain higher levels of skill and understanding. The popular topics of Qigong, Taijiquan, Taiji Partner Drills, and Taiji Applications are offered under the direct instruction of Dr. Yang. There are no prerequisites for any seminar! Students with all levels of experience, any background, and any style are welcome to attend.

Lodging availability is limited, which ensures smaller groups and a better quality of learning and interaction. Interested participants should contact us as soon as possible for reservations. Discounts are available for YMAA Students.

2020 seminars will run from July 10th - August 21th.

2020 Topics

Qigong-3 (Hard Qigong: Hard White Crane. Tiger Claw, Iron Shirt)- July 10-17

Hard Qigong focuses on conditioning the physical body including bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and internal organs. Its foundation is Muscle/Tendon changing.

Qigong-4 (Soft Qigong: Soft White Crane, Taiji Qigong) - July 17-24

Soft Qigong focuses on both Qi circulation and physical conditioning, especially the joints. White Crane and Taiji Qigong are two typical soft Qigong that approach the body and Qi's conditiong from two different angles.

Dao De Jing and Qigong (Theory and Practice) - July 24-31

Lao Zi's Dao De Jing is the root of Embryonic Breathing Meditation. Those chapters related to this Qigong will be discussed and practiced.

Taijiquan/Taiji Staff - July 31-August 7

Yang-Style Long Form - The essentials to Taijiquan practice.

Taiji Staff - Taiji long weapon basics that enable a practitioner to train the concepts and feeling of the barehand form to a long weapon.

Taiji Pushing Hands OR Taiji Fighting Set- August 7-14

Pushing Hands for all levels - Improving center, stability, body structure, and mind. Includes Yin-Yang Symbol Sticking Hands (Silk Reeling).

Taiji Fighting Set for intermediate to advanced practitioners, a choreographed 2-person set that thoroughly explores applications and Taijiquan principles.

Taijiquan Martial Applications (Martial Application of Taijiquan 37 Postures) - August 14-21

Pushing Hands for all levels - Improving center, stability, body structure, and mind. Includes Yin-Yang Symbol Sticking Hands (Silk Reeling).

Taiji Fighting Set for intermediate to advanced practitioners, a choreographed 2-person set that thoroughly explores applications and Taijiquan principles.

  • Meals: No special meals are available. No personal cooking or camp cooking are allowed. The kitchen will be occupied.

Lodging

The Retreat Center has several lodging options ranging from guest rooms with private bathroom (suite), guest rooms with 2 or 3 beds, cabin rooms with 2 beds, cabin floor or camping.

Note that each lodging option must be shared with other seminar participants (as few as 2 people per guest room, or as many as 8 people on the cabin floor). If you have specific lodging requests or questions, please let us know.
